I wanted to add another interesting tidbit to this thread. I am in JNB at the moment and just volunteered for my JNB-NBO flight which was severely oversold. However, since I was on an award ticket I was told no DBC compensastion would be offered. The old lady at the KQ counter (who worked for KQ not Menzies) said she would rather offer more compensation to those that showed up later than offer me compensation (although the duty manager at check-in said no DBC is offered on free tickets). I think she was annoyed that I knew that the flight was oversold. I explained I was helping her and KQ and she wanted none of it explaining that award tickets were not due DBC...not asking for recourse, just for verification if her insane policy was correct? Im wondering if we even want KQ in SkyTeam if they are interested in spending money unnecessarily and upsetting pax without need!
