NYGeorge is right about the cabins likely being sold out. I took a quick look at JFK-EZE flights on the 20th and business is pretty full.

However, in the future, you can transfer Starwood points to AA and use those to upgrade with a copay. For that flight it would be 25,000 miles (20,000 SPG points) + $350.

I wouldn't suggest doing it now though because the upgrade likely won't clear and you'll be stuck with the AA miles - unless you want them for some other reason.
