Because pornography is to a hotel what popcorn is to a movie theater -- a major, sometimes the decisive, profit center. I know from a friend in the in-room-movie trade that porn accounts for a giant percentage of in-room movie purchases... 80 to 90 percent most of the time... and when hotels are disposing of inventory on Priceline or running Internet specials, they may be making more on the movie than the room.

BTW, if the differential is only GBP2, you're getting off easy, as it were. In the US porn can be priced at 3X the mainstream movies hardly anyone buys.
