While I agree the E is a quick ride - I'm suggesting the OP have a 1 train ride trip to JFK vs. require to transfer at 42nd or 34th to the airport.

In terms of MUCH longer - here are the stats
from 42nd Street the E train take 33 minutes to Jamaica Center
the A to Howard Beach takes 44 minutes
LIRR from 34th St to Jamaica is 20 minutes
