These are the older pair, I have them and the newer ones too. But, I don't ever recall Bose just "giving" them away. lowest on the old ones I saw was some pricing errors on ecost for 199.00. Normally, the older models are 249.00

I actually prefer the sound on the newer models, but DO like the new form factor and features.
