Yes, I'm being picky, but I'd like to point out that the + is the symbol for international access code, which is 011 in the USA. If you dial 011+800XXXXXXXX you'd actually be dialing 011011800XXXXXXXX. But we all know what you meant.

"+" indicates that the following number is in a certain format and that it starts with a country code. In some cases, the number may need to
be preceded by an appropriate IDD/IAC prefix (e.g. when calling from a landline). So it may, therefore,
appear that "+" is the prefix symbol
