However, the ticket will be mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle - the rental company. They will pay it and subsequently charge your CC, likely with an admin fee for them researching who had the car, postage, yadda yadda.
With camera violations you can't tell who was driving since an officer wasn't there to see your driver's license.
Yeah, I've heard a similar thing--I think they rotate the cameras between locations here. While I was in the intersection I caught a flash in my rear-view mirror and then another one a split second later. I don't know if it was me or another car(s) that got nailed with the first flash, as it took me a couple of seconds to realize that it was a red light camera.
Just to be clear, I don't have a problem paying the fine if I indeed run a red light (I'm not sure, as it was a pretty close call), I'm just wondering how the rental company will handle it if I did get caught. I'll post an update if anything transpires.
