My voucher is a residual amount from a ticket issued from another Type B voucher. The original voucher expired around 1/1/09. The new voucher says it was issued 11/4/08 and will expire 1 year from date of issue. Does this mean that by doing a partial use of a Type B voucher you can extend the validity of the residual for another year? (Other threads lead me to believe the answer is yes)
Yes, residual funds on United don't carry inherent permanent expirations; only the instruments that hold the funds (i.e., your Type B voucher) have expirations. Thus when you turn in one instrument in a ticketing transaction and United issues you a new Type B voucher, the new voucher's printed expiration date is in effect for the funds that it is holding, and not any previous expiration dates.
