I think you're right to vent, if you're staying or would like to stay in the future, you could ask to see the GM and voice your concerns (they have no way of mind-reading). You could suggest the alternative to keep your business, you won't use the CL in return for a rate that's within the company policy.

I think the GM would prefer to let you have a "to go" breakfast rather than lose your business or $30-40/night, but there's only one way to find out.
