The new config U/D is no more or less cramped than the old config. Flew U/D SFO/FRA/SFO new config in October and would chose the the U/D again due to the standard U/D reason -- quieter/less a sense of being in a large plane
Another plus for the U/D is the side storage for window seats but there is less overhead storage (but there is the "closet") -- again essentially no difference between old/new config.
Definitely is easier to get out of the window seat in the new config.
Thanks. I am scheduled for both outbound and return on the upper deck. I flew in the new configuration C on a 767 from IAD to LHR and that was quite nice. It felt quite spacious indeed. I suppose the upper deck makes one feel "more elite"? Or is it just because there are fewer people that it is more quiet? Is the downtstairs simply not as nice because there are too many people?
