Just moved to Beijing after the Olympics, and am experiencing the new traffic control rule, which 80,000+ cars are taken off the road each day. It is quite surprising the see air quality improves over what I had experienced last year as a visitor. Best of all, it is taking less than half of the time to get to work.

I suspect the Chinese economy will be tanking any time now, and particularly the segment relying on cheap exports. This means far less business travel by NAmerican and European folks contracting products and thus a severe cut back in the number of seats across the Pacific to all Chinese destinations. This will make the slump in SEAsia a decade ago look like a blip!

Financial crisis is having a profound impact in China already. However, it is hard to read the impact. I am certain the export centric industries (accounts for 1/3 of China's GDP) is tanking.
