The future of miles and Flyertalk getting a lot of press

Will your airline take the dump on you that Continental's Gordo-The-Liar did on CO elites last week when he made discount airfares only eligible for 50% elite qualifying miles?

Be aware that the vehemence to which CO elites are complaining transcends just our little forum and has hit the mainstream media:

NY Times: The anger of the Long Distance Flyer

USA Today: Continental gives you reason to rant:

which is a reprint of the excellent article from JoeSentMe:

Because of this, we’ve added quite a few new members to FT.

Are you worried about your airline pulling a bonehead move like this? Please e-mail your local newspaper (the one that ran last Monday’s “fluff” piece about Continentals “elite access”) and tell them they missed the story. Point them to one of the excellent articles above, and, to Flyertalk.

The CO forum thread discussing it (amongst others) is here:

Please come add your voice. Let’s make this the longest thread in FT history (excepting word associations – or Latin Pass I guess ).

I encourage all FT members to help get the word out about this in any way that they can. Ultimately, this will protect your miles as well.
