With that group of 5, follow guv1976's advice. Have the taxi dispatcher get a minivan taxi for your group. That's the easiest and the 3 adults won't have a tough time splitting the cost. That will be quite inexpensive.
Did this last week in reverse JFK-LGA. It was just me in a big spacious Sienna. The cab fare is about $30 JFK-LGA
