Water is still free and its available from pitchers or dispensers, so they are still providing what they are advertising. Most US Clubs (at least the many I have been into) have never offered individual bottles of water to begin with so there is no "change to the benefits" that I can see on a more general level. Actually selling bottles of water for $1 wouldn't necessarily be a bad idea as it would save money over buying bottles from an airport vendor.
