I think I've seen a jack above/near the exit rows in the 737 series of A/C (in the overhead bins) to tap into some system be it the PA, cockpit, or something else... a theory I had was it was for F/A's so they could be in direct contact with the doctor service they have if an in-flight medical issue were to occur... could this be a similar type object?
