My partner and I will be in Sydney New Year's Eve. I've read mixed messages about the big fireworks celebration. Some say you should get to your chosen viewpoint by noon, other by 10 am. Any thoughts from locals or folks who have been?

Also, any suggestions for where to spend the rest of the night (bars, clubs, parties, saunas)?
