Wrong. Some international routes (Canada, Mexico, Caribbean, and Central America) are done as normal upgrades for NW/CO elites, and now I assume DL as well.

There are certainly Op-Op opportunities as well. I usually get 1 out of 4 segments op-uped flying to Asia, if I'm on a coach ticket.
