In practice this routing will be slightly more expensive, 140/105/70 for F/C/Y, than a transpacific routing, 120/90/60 for F/C/Y, but still less than a standard award. Factor in a stopover in Europe and this routing might be an option for the original poster?
I have ticketed this routing three times, one of which is BOS-FRA-BKK return in May 2004. I used 140,000 miles for a Star Alliance First Class award, with all four segments on LH.</font>
transpac, thanks for your insight. I have never considered the Star Alliance award option - it goes to show how fantastic this board is!
I do not at all mind an Eastward itinerary (even at the cost of 30,000 extra miles), although being based in PHL, I will be limited to US (ugh!) tp CDG and LH to FRA for my starting leg if I don't want to make an extra stop in IAD or JFK. Perhaps I will seriously consider originating from EWR, and I understand that SQ has a one-stop via FRA to SIN. Has anyone scored Saver Award in C on SQ on that routing? I have heard that it is notoriously hard to score C and F awards of any kind on SQ. Is that true?
Also UA has a nonstop to LHR from EWR, right? That will make for a nice connection at LHR onto SQ for a non-stop to SIN? Would that work?
Thanks again for all your wonderful advices.
