Being a gold member myself I have never had my seat moved from the one I have chosen.
Absolutely not - this is utter rubbish. Gold status passengers cannot take seats already assigned by another card holder (silver or gold), nor a full fare paying passenger. Not at all.
What has no doubt happened is there's been an aircraft change onto a different type of 737, or a 737 to Airbus, where the exit rows are different. Unfortunately those in exit rows (or in the AC seats immediately behind CE) will have been reassigned to other seats and Flight Control do not automatically reassign the exit row to who had it before. Very frustrating I know, but this is the case. That's why it says when you pre-assign or OLCI that BA cannot guarantee any specific seat.
