Agreed one of the dumbest laws in existence (hyperbole notwithstanding).
I would venture to guess that 90%+ people who get creamed by cars, get it in a crosswalk.
Bigger/heavier should always have right of way. If nothing else it would reduce energy consumption by making reducing stops and starts of the bigger heavier thing.
I consider myself an environmentalist as I always blow through crosswalks...just being green and trying to reduce greenhouse gasses.
