Sitting on my flight from GEG-SEA this morning in 2A I noticed a black box mounted on the bulkhead just in front of 1A. About the size of a large text book. Had a cable coming out of it that ran up into the ceiling. I asked the FA as I was deplaning and she said something about the crew having their manuals stored there.

Is this some sort of low profile computer they use to store technical documents for the crews instead of them toting the paper versions?

Has anyone else noticed these boxes? The A/C I was on this morning had 407 on the nose.
