Technically, it is automatic on DL too. I never "request" to be on the upgrade list, I am just on it. You don't have to actually go in there and tell them. If you are a medallion, the default setting is to put you on the list.

Also, it is an automated process that moves you from the online upgrade list to the airport upgrade list.
