Also, from what I've read in the LA Times a lot of the black voters are more conservative church-goers who truly believe that marriage is only between a man/woman; they didn't look at it as a civil rights issue. What did not help (and what the other side did that was totally dishonest) was do robo-calls to the black community with a portion of Obama's views on it (but leaving out the part where he was against the prop), so they received a call saying their favorite guy didn't believe in SSM but not mentioning he was against Prop 8, so when they were voting that contributed to it as well, in the opinion of some of the pundits.

Hang in there. You WILL get equal rights at some point (hopefully sooner rather than later). I firmly believe that.
