Do you have any idea if it must be AA metal? The only AA metal-only overnights I can find are DFW, ORD, STL.. and possibly MIA. However, the SFO LAX options would then have me on an AS flight in the morning, which would be an AA codeshare. Just preparing for my call...
In all likelihood, they will put you on an earlier flight into DFW thereby alleviating the issue of the overnight stay.
