Interesting point; a contractual obligation always to give J travel is just one part of an overall benefits package. Maybe the employee traded half a percent commission/bonus/whatever to get their J concession. Without case by case knowledge of that bigger picture, the automatic criticism here of 'greedy J travellers' is unfair.
Yes, sitting behind this of course the employer quantifies each individual's value to the business - however - your value as an employee is not fixed, it goes up and down, and anyone refusing to appreciate that fact is going to be more vulnerable if they start waving contracts around in these conditions.
