Anger from Australia

Until I get to see some figures or breakdown on who owns what in the Mariott chain, I will not be supporting any Mariott Business.

I have long believed that gay people need to vote with their wallets, support the business which support us and boycott the business's that do not.

I can remember a day when I worked in North Sydney, and Optus (Australian phone company) launched an amazing landline product. I cannot remember what it was but it was pretty amazing in the market place at the time. The company produced t-shirts promoting the offer and requested that all staff wear the Tshirt on the Friday that the product was being launched.

During lunch time, I went to American Express to pay my account, and the staff there said - wow so many people from Optus today. North Sydney was full of Optus shirts.

This was a powerful message to me, that we had been hidden as to who we worked for until then. Even I was amazed at how much of an impact our company had on the local business community.

As a gay community - while advocating a tshirt to be worn by all is not my thing, we can selectively choose where we spend out money, and this has impact.

So until we are equal citizens, demand equality.

I really begrudge paying full taxation when the state or country only gives me partial rights.
