Nice report however I must note that you must not have a lot of experience of US F. The TK seats on the 73's are convertable seats, they have little or no extra legroom and the only thing that changes is the width as they go from 4 to 6 seats across, they can do this back to row 18 or so if they wish. Almost all Euro carriers switch their abreast seating to either 4 or 5 in biz, the difference is how they do this, TK essentially does a BA A/C on both sides, however no greater pitch.
Regarding queues an hour is extreme, and in the 700 or so times that I have arrived in Istanbul I have rarely if ever waited anywhere near that long, that being said, if the VISA line AND the passport line are long, it could go longer. Regarding the security check at arrival, the trick is generally to arrive at the last doors as Turks really don;t think things through 90% disembark at the first terminal doors, while if you drive to the third or fourth set, the wait will often be minimal.
