Found the answer - tried a dummy booking. No food on that flight... not until the flights later in the day.

I must be having bad luck lately... I was having such a great run with AC on the customer service front in both Y and J. My last 4 flights have been pretty crappy for service. Maybe the bad economy makes the pax grouchy and in turn the FA's get grouchy. On this flight no offer to take my jacket (I rang the call button after they closed the door), no newspaper, got a drink upon take off and FA never came back except to take the glass just before landing. She talked to the two flight crew in 5A and 5C who were deadheading about how crappy it was to be in reserve for most the flight. FA didn't even bring out the jackets before landing so there was a big block up when the doors opened of everyone trying to get their jackets. Pretty minor things in the grand scheme of things - but for a revenue J seat (no upgrade) it didn't feel worth it. Does not matter anymore - days of me getting J without certs is over for a while. Actually... just being able to travel is getting tough.
