So if I were you I would wait January 1st to book.
Tickets for the second half of January to April should be the cheaper, except for the school holidays period. Early May tickets will be very expensive because of the golden week. After that you can aim until the end of May. Starting June, prices are getting up again.
Just my personal view and experience.

Regards,
Actually they should be announcing the surcharge for 01/09 pretty soon. Probably this or next week . As I pointed out in another thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=884836), the surcharge should be in zone F unless they decide to once again adjust it as they did for the oct-dec surcharge.

When I suggested traveling in April/May, I meant to ticket it in April to wait for a further cut in surcharge. But you should closely monitor the jet fuel price yourself or wait till they announce the April surcharge in Feb 09 to decide.
