are you allowed to add a s/o in the connecting place in europe too, I guess that would be FRA or LHR?
Ok ok Bestof2k9 to the rescue !!!

To clarify things :
MLE (Male international airport, Republic of Maldives) is in zone "Indian subcontinent" and not Asia. Therefore travel through AT or PA is allowed as long as you come back through the same ocean. Out of YUL I believe it would make more sense to go via europe, but am not at work nor do I have the proper tools to verify routings/mpm. I would suggest a YUL-ZRH-SIN-MLE routing or YUL-MUC-SIN-MLE in order to avoid AC metal and YQ as much as possible, however even if you do go on an AC flight the YQ wont be that bad since we dont have a set YQ for MLE so the transatlantic flight would cost you 85.00 $ per.
As far as the question above :
NA --> Europe --> SIN
Yes you can do it but only with the SQ flight through JFK or IAH and stopover can only be in FRA forget about LHR. And you have to come back through the atlantic obviously.
