Captain's Log - Unexpected
So, on another recent thread, I wrote a rant about customer service. On this thread, I'll write something unexpected and (IMHO) awesome that I experienced on a recent flight.
I flew DEN - LAX earlier this week. I was sitting in F on a 757. Prior to departure, the Captain appeared out of the cockpit. He stood, in full dress uniform (cap - WOW, jacket, and tie), in the middle of the F cabin and proceeded to make an announcement. The announcement was nothing special... he introduced himself and gave 20 words on the flight time and path. However, his presence and personal attention to each pax was amazing (he made eye contact with all of us). He instilled confidence and an appreciation for our business. Frankly, I've so rarely seen a pilot in full dress, I was impressed with his appearance and bearing.
After speaking with the F-cabin, he walked straight back to the Y-cabin. I could hear him making the same announcement.
Thanks to this pilot (whose name I can't recall) and thanks to UA for making us feel like humans on a journey, instead of cattle on the railway car.
