SILVER WINGS PLUS IS NO DEAL
I direct your attention to the UAL home page where United is pushing memberships in
Silver Wings Pluss, their "special program"
for seniors over 55 years of age.
"Silver Wings Plus offers big savings on United." is the headline.
On the page that you are directed it says:
"Save on travel. See more of the world"
And for just $75 for a two year membership you can travel (in the fine print) FOR AS LOW AS $330 FROM BASICALLY THE EAST COAST TO LONDON. THIS DOESN'T INCLUDE ANY TAXES.
This is in "off peak" seasons like now.
ONLY ONE PROBLEM. YOU DO NOT SAVE MONEY FROM SUCH PLACES AS THE NORTHEAST WHICH CURRENTLY HAS FARES,BY UNITED, FROM $260
FROM PLACES LIKE BOSTON.
SO IN EFFECT UNITED WANTS SENIOR CITIZENS
TO PAY $75 TO JOIN A CLUB IN ORDER TO PAY
$70 MORE FOR THEIR TICKET.
WHAT SAVINGS ?????????????
I guess this is one way to increase revenue
but once people realize they have "been had"
they may be just a little upset.
Talk about one hand not knowing what the other is doing. Perhaps the web people, the
marketing people and those that set prices
should be introduced to each other. Obviously they do not communicate.
