Congress created some exemptions from the perimeter rule. Much of those exemptions began with John McCain wanting a non-stop back to PHX.

757s regularly fly into DCA. Nothing bigger though, except in an emergency (I recall many folks holding their breath when a DC10 diverted a few years ago).

Some folks will remember that in the first round of exemptions, TWA got DCA-LAX. AA had to give it up when they acquired TWA from bankruptcy.

I'd be very surprised if UA got either their DEN or SFO request - though I sure wish they would, as I live right next door...
