They typically don't like to do that if no segment has been flown, but I've gotten them to make exceptions (i.e. my TA is closed/out of business, etc.)

Also, OP: Are you sure it's a refundable fare? Not all B's are (most but not all.) If it is, and you used a credit card, I would take the advice above and dispute.
