My parents once got separated in F on a mileage upgrade. This was totally random, as they selected their seats months in advance, but when they went to check in my mother had been moved. They were prepared to graciously explain the situation to the person who was in my mother's original seat, until they discovered that F was populated by 4 couples, all of whom were randomly kicked out of their seats and scattered throughout the cabin.
The FA ended up taking charge, and pointed to each person and said, "You, there. You, there," etc.

I once had a similar experience, but I was flying alone in F. I actually moved
three times in order to accommodate all of the couples. It was pretty funny, but everyone wound up happy.
