I think what the OP meant was that he is flying on EK on two seperate ticks.

If you have enough time in DXB (4 hours at least), then it is possible, but it might be tight/a hassle to do that if you're flying Y. Just factor in the time you need to clear customs, wait for your bags to arrive, do your thing before you could check back in (inlcuding time to walk in between).
