LAX It does not need to be so bad
I just dropped off a friend at LAX today. The security is enhanced... However, it is very unorganized. Upon arriving the vehicles pass through a checkpoint outside the airport. Passing through the cars enter departing/arriving lanes. When the cars approach the first terminal a police officer allows taxis, buses, and limo's only to drop off passengers. All other vehicles may not drop at the curb.
The problem: No place do they inform the cars that they cannot drop at the curb. Moreover, no place do they inform the cars they need to drop passengers in the parking structure. The cars must figure-out for themselves how to drop passengers. This causes most cars to aimlessly drive around the airport at least twice. With everyone going around the airport 2-3 times the unnecessary traffic is doubled.
I asked a security person, not police, directing traffic how one is to make a drop off. She responded with, "gee I do not know." After pushing the point, she asked someone.
So, when you see the madness over LAX on TV, realize a good portion is due to a poor job the authorities are doing.
