To be more specific, fraternization between officers and enlisted personnel is forbidden in the US military. I'm sure if flysurfer and jcf27 think more carefully about this, they'll understand why this might be a problem in any heirarchical organization where superiors are responsible for and exert substantial influence over their subordinates, as alluded to by Kagehitokiri.
