The refurbished ones in Germany and Switzerland are pleasant enough but usually identical other than slightly less crowded equivalents of the non-SEN ones. AFAIK the food and drink selection is identical. The SEN lounge at LHR is particularly unpleasant and they don't let *A Golds in there either.
While I think it legitimate to question the quality of SEN lounges, it is not true that the food and drink selections are identical with business class/Frequent Traveler lounges. The food choices are much greater in the SEN lounge. It is possible to make a meal of SEN lounge offerings, and this is certainly not the case of BC/FTL lounges. That said, SEN lounges can often be more crowded than the non-SEN lounges, and the FRA/MUC versions of the lounges did not measure up to BA's first class lounge in Terminal 4 (I have not yet experienced T5).
