Do NOT sit in 1C/1D on the 757 under any circumstances. Those two seats are so short on legroom as to be unacceptable. 1A and 1B are OK (if you like bulkhead seats) since there's a cutout for your feet. But 1C and 1D are truly bad.

Rows 2, 3, 4 and 5 are much nicer on the 757. Row 6 isn't great since there's a mini-galley/lavatory right behind and the recline is limited. But 1C/1D are the worst.
