LAX apparently does it differently. Several times, now, I've come off CX F from HKG, connecting to domestic AA, walked over from TBIT. I get FL access based on CX F the same day. This seems to be the rule there, at least as the Admirals Club desk people explained it to me. (LAX FL access is through Admirals Club.)
