I have sympathy with both sides.

I love the bow to old fashioned, "proper" service. But in a full J cabin that does translate into "slow". And lots of people do have to eat and run (so to speak) however much they would like to linger. Still, there is so little left in air travel that is classy these days, it would be a pity if trolley service were to go too.

All in all it works much better in F where the CC/pax ratio is much higher. Even there it can be a bit OTT. Sometimes trundling a whole trolley out every time somebody wants a bit of cheese or another piece of fruit seems ludicrously clunky. A tray would suffice in many instances.
