I stayed at the Hotel Imperial for a one night visit in October 08.
At arrival, lobby staff warmly greeted me and gave assistance with my luggage. I walked over to the first available check-in agent where I handed over my PLT and credit card. The agent kindly directed me to sit down at the PLT check-desk where about 30seconds later the FOM appears and takes me to my room for in-room check-in.
I was upgraded to an executive suite - which is identical to QF009's room, on the opening post on this thread.
Separate large living room with 50in plasma, work desk, large bedroom with very comfy king bed, corner room with views to the Petronas Towers, walk in robe, large bathroom with dual sinks, separate bathtub with twin showers.
Imperial executive club has the usual offerings including free wi-fi (which I used to access my SPG account to see that my next night reservation at the Le Meridien KL had been pre-upgraded to a suite). I would say the food and drink choices are just satisfactory and really nothing to write home about but the presentation in the club as well as throughout the hotel is impeccable if not very old world grand influenced.
IMO the Hotel Imperial has the best views of the Petronas Towers out of all the Starwood properties - mainly because the Westin
now has their views obstructed by the new Pavillion luxury apartments across the road.
Overall it is a good quality hotel with very good service. Given there are many quality hotels in KL to choose from, the Hotel Imperial IMO would have to be competitive in terms of $$$ to attract and retain guests.
