cranky amex/mr site is standard operating procedure. just hit refresh / change browsers, and ultimately call to book your awards - there's no penalty. I haven't used the website to redeem in awhile, but previously it didn't have shipping options that actually worked (ie if you get more than $X in gift cards, automatic upgrade in shipping).
