RichardInSF, I do not know what routes you are flying. This year, upgrades for my eight transpacific flights have all been confirmed well before departure date, often times at time of ticketing, except the upcoming BKK-NRT segment. Hopefully this upgrade will clear at the gate.
Two recent Transatlantic flight Oct and Nov cleared into NC when booked in July August But planning for trips in New Year I can find virtually no NC space in any route I have looked at. I have now booked LHR-ORD in March and I am waitlisted even though UA shows a completely empty C cabin and a Z9 C9 D9. This doesn't encourage me to continue to fly UA.
Yes I know if I really want to fly C then I should be willing at least Z for the privilege! But is an old 763 really worth a Z fare?
