I'm sorry - I just don't agree. I know that upgrade is harder to come by and particularly so in the new config - but advance planning can certainly be used to confirm at booking.

I am holding 4 itins for the new year to Asia and Oz, and hold upgraded C class on each and every one.
I recognize that not everyone has the same flexibility - but to state that they have "virtually eliminated" NC space is simply inaccurate, IMO.
