I think they "try" to keep people together, but if you're on a split PNR (despite them being somehow associated together), then all bets are off. as already mentioned, it might be manageable if they would at least IMMEDIATELY send out an email, sms, phone call like they do for flight notifications. I'll make sure to point this out yet again when I send in a letter.
