You have to be really proactive about this.

Was the schedule change noted on My Itineraries on .bomb? I have Christmas flights that have now been changed twice (today I note they've changed a third time on four out of the six legs); one of the changes had the outbound flight with a completely different routing. Each time the schedule change has shown up on .bomb, which I check daily. If you don't call to confirm the schedule change, they will eventually call with a recorded message and confirm them for you, even if you don't answer the phone.
