Your T3 suggestion and baggage storage idea is the more dependable one to go with. [I heard a horror story about trying to wait to be released two weeks ago.]

There's one alternative -- don't know how reliable it still is and I think it's mentioned in the same thread where you pulled that quote -- and that is to use the airside T5 train and try to stay on until it gets you to the T5 arrivals area and opens the doors facing the other way.
