Hi Tom,

I travel through T5 quite regularly (about once per week).

From an architectural standpoint, I think it's brilliant. It's an awesome structure and takes my breath away each time I enter. The BA lounges are beautiful.

It's easy to reach, especially from the Heathrow Express. For some reason, it reminds me of disembarking at Terminal 5 at Arlanda airport in Stockholm. It's great. ^

From a service standpoint, it's a mixed bag.

The BAA security personnel and the general security process is a bit hit-and-miss. Sometimes it's smooth, but sometimes it can be very difficult and the agents can be very grumpy indeed. More than once I have got barked at by a very unhappy agent who was stepping out of line.

I personally find that the signage can be a bit misleading. Finding my way to the south lounge in T5A the first time was impossible. Also, it's very difficult to find the gate which my flight is flying from many times. For some reason, the displays which list all flights and gates are too few.

More and more often, my flights seem to leave from gate 10 - which is the remote gate. Taking a bus to a plane on a remote stand is a very inconvenient method, and this seems to be happening more frequently.

You might have better luck if you speak with the folks on the BA board, as there have been many threads there about T5 and I don't know how many of them look at this board. Perhaps the moderators will move this thread over there?

Best regards
